120-ton special crane delivered to newly built test facility

R&D Test Systems is an international engineering company specialized in all engineering disciplines, including developing and delivering test systems for the wind industry.

When R&D Test Systems needed to acquire a crane for Lindoe Offshore Renewables Center's (LORC) new test facility for wind turbine main bearings, it was crucial that the crane met specific requirements. The crane had to be installed during the construction process and be able to lift large components as well as heavy wind turbine main bearings when the test bench was put into operation.

A crane solution is rarely standard, and Danish Crane Building was ready to make the necessary adjustments and offer a complete customized solution from the first sketch to final installation and ongoing service of the crane.

"In 2012, we experienced problems with our crane system at that time and had difficulty getting the necessary support from our supplier. After contacting Danish Crane Building, we were met with a constructive approach and a serious follow-up, which quickly got us back in operation.

In connection with a serious fire in our silo area, where our two existing crane systems burned out, DCB again proved to be very service-minded, flexible, and solution-oriented. They quickly provided an offer and prioritized our and the insurance company's desire for quick delivery as well as alternative measures, allowing us to get the system up and running again with temporary solutions.

A temporary solution worth mentioning is when the best of the burnt-out cranes was transported to Nibe, where DCB quickly renovated it and equipped it with a remote control, thus helping us to get back into operation quickly. At the same time, two new overhead cranes were in production and delivered within the promised schedule. The new cranes were delivered and commissioned, and our staff were instructed in the use of the cranes. All to our complete satisfaction.

Following this experience, DCB has continued to prove itself as a competent and service-minded partner. They are now our preferred service provider for crane systems.

An example of their flexibility is when we wanted to be able to start two ventilation systems in the silo area. DCB quickly implemented a solution in the crane control, so the ventilation systems can now be operated from the crane cabin via a spare output.
